I very recently and unexpectedly suffered the loss of one of my beloved creatures, Niko the ferret. I had cared for her since she was a baby and I already miss her like crazy. I have been unable to get her out of my head and decided to do a happy portrait of her in her memory. <3

The Rainbow Connection

I have been unabashedly obsessed with the song "The Rainbow Connection," particularly the version sung by Willie Nelson. The song has been playing in my head over and over, influencing my thoughts and creativity. So, I decided to create an homage using hand drawn text and bright colors. Also, a whale. Because whales are super cute.

Monster Madness

Holy monkeys it's been ages since I've posted! I resolve to be a better blogger. :) At any rate, I found some awesome cheap fleece at Joann Fabrics the other day and my pups are freezing their bums off (even in this unusually warm Minnesota winter) so I've decided to make them some monster hoodies! I am so excited to get started on these!

Caged

The other night I was feeling weird and creative and this kind of just fell out of my pen. It's a robot thing with a birdcage head and a bird skeleton inside. The cage is open, yet the bird didn't escape and died. Just a quick sketch.

"Skinny Man"

I've noticed lately that a lot of my inspiration has come from jokes that my boyfriend and I make and elaborate into stories and then, naturally, drawings. This one is from me telling him that sometimes, I think his hair looks like Superman's. Then he said he would be "Skinny Man." I had to draw it. The key lime pie comment is pretty much what I think his catchphrase would be, considering his love for desserts. Turns out he's not so much a superhero as he is a guy who really likes pie and for some reason wears a Superman costume.
